The money

When do I get paid, and who decides?

Money is captured the moment a cheese clears and it accrues to you straight away. You claim it whenever you like from your dashboard, and it also pays out on its own once your balance passes your payout floor, which starts at $100 and is yours to change. Payouts land in your bank through Stripe on Stripe's own schedule.

What comes out of a cheese before it reaches me?

One flat fee and card processing at cost, and nothing else. There is no listing fee, no monthly charge and no cut of anything you do elsewhere. Your payouts card shows the exact cents on your own money rather than a percentage, because a percentage quoted next to a separate processing cost describes only part of what came out. A supporter always pays exactly the cheese: if they type 🧀$25, $25 leaves their card.

What happens to money I never claim?

Cheese aimed at someone who has not claimed a page waits seven days for them. Money already captured for you sits for ninety days; past that it is absorbed, and you are warned by email at day thirty and day sixty first. The ninety-day clock only runs while claiming is actually possible, so it never counts down against you during an outage on our side.

Can a supporter take their money back?

A supporter can ask, and a refund goes back to the original card. You see every refund in your ledger with the reason attached. Nobody can quietly claw money out of your balance without it appearing there.

Which countries can be paid? (33 today)

saycheese is a UK company, so payouts follow Stripe's cross-border rules for a UK platform: the UK, the US, Canada, Switzerland and the EEA. Do my supporters have to download anything?

No, and that is the whole idea. They register a card once at saycheese, then they type 🧀 in a comment where they already are. No app, no checkout, no page to open. A bare 🧀 sends $5, and 🧀$199 sends that amount.

What if someone types 🧀 who has not registered?

Nothing is charged, ever. Nobody can be billed who has not put a card on file with us first. They get one message explaining what a 🧀 does, and that is all.

What if I mention 🧀 myself to teach my audience?

Nothing happens and nothing is said. A cheese that would pay you from you is silently ignored, because a public correction under a creator teaching their own audience argues with the best moment we have.

Do I have to be live, or online, or fast?

No. The comment is the whole interaction and it works while you sleep. You reply with a thank-you whenever you get to it, from a queue that keeps them in order.

Your data

What do you actually know about me?

Almost nothing, and that is structural rather than a promise. Three parties are involved in a cheese and saycheese is the smallest of them.Stripe holds the money and the identity. Your bank account, your ID document, your legal name, your tax details, and your supporters' cards. You hand those to Stripe on Stripe's own pages. They never pass through us.The platform holds your audience. Your followers, your videos, your DMs, your analytics, your whole account. We read the comments where a 🧀 might arrive and nothing else.saycheese holds the thin layer between. Your display name, your bio, your page handle, the public handles of the accounts you connected, and the cheese you received with the comments that paid you. That is the whole list.So there is no card number here, no bank account, no home address, no legal name, no date of birth and no tax id, because there is nowhere in our database to put them. Not even the last four digits of a card. If saycheese were breached tomorrow, what leaked would be a list of handles and some kind comments.

Then how do I get paid, if you have no bank details?

Stripe holds them. When you set up payouts you go to Stripe and give your details to Stripe, not to us, and what comes back to saycheese is a reference: an account id that lets us send money toward it and read whether you are ready to receive. We could not show someone your bank details if we wanted to, because we have never had them. The same is true of your supporters: a card is a Stripe id here, nothing more.

What can a supporter see about me, and what can I see about them?

They see your public page: your name, your photo, your bio, and whatever you have chosen to show about cheese received. You see a supporter's public @handle on the platform they commented from, or the word anonymous if they chose that. You never see their email, their card, their address or their real name, and there is no screen anywhere that could show it to you.

What does connecting an account let you do?

Read the comments where a 🧀 might arrive, and post the receipt where you have left that switch on. Each platform grants the narrowest thing that works. On YouTube we asked for read only on purpose: the only permission that can post a comment there also allows deleting your videos, so we declined it and you send your own thank-you from the queue in one tap. Disconnecting revokes the lot, immediately.

Will you post as me?

Only the receipt under a cheese, only where the platform requires the message to come from the channel owner, and only while that switch is on. Every one of those has an off switch on your dashboard, and off means silent. We never post opinions, never follow anyone, never DM your audience and never touch anything else on your account.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. Disconnect the accounts and ask us to close the page, and what we hold goes with it. The records a payment processor is legally required to keep about a real charge stay at Stripe on Stripe's clock, which is the same for every business that takes cards.
